Q. What makes the Full Frame Uncompressed (FFU) AVI video format the best choice for my video background purchase?

A. Most video background vendors deliver their video in a video format that is already compressed - such as mpeg, quicktime, divx and most others. When you compress video you lose a lot of the original image quality. Just like when you compress audio into MP3 format you lose much of the data that originally made up the original uncompressed wav or compact disc, the same is true for compressing video - you lose much of the data (resolution, quality) when you compress it. This is especially important for DVD authors as almost all dvd authoring applications will compress the video, again, when it transcodes it to the DVD! You end up with dual compressed output from the video background which loses the high quality look you purchased it for. Our video comes completely uncompressed, so when your DVD (or other video content) authoring application compresses it during the transcode process, it is the first and only time the video is compressed - providing the absolute best possible output quality from your software.

Q. What is the difference between Creative Commons and Commercial licensing?

A. We deliver our animated backgrounds under one of two licenses. Our Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 3.0 license is perfect for home movie authors and others who want to purchase our animated backgrounds for personal use. Under this license, you may use, copy, modify and distribute our animated backgrounds so long as you attribute their creation to DVDMenuBacks and share them with others under the same license. Creative Commons licensed animated backgrounds cannot be used for commercial purposes. Conversely, our Commercial license grants you the rights to use and distribute our animated backgrounds when combined with any other video or in any other format aside from directly reselling our animated backgrounds. Commercial licensing removes the Attribution and Noncommercial clauses which eliminates the need to attribute the video background creation to DVDMenuBacks and allows you to distribute your content with our video background(s) included under any license you choose.
