Humble Beginnings
DVDMenuBacks is a project that was started by a couple of guys looking for DVD motion menu content when we started authoring DVD's way back in 2003. When we looked around for some quality content we were quick to discover that if your pockets were deep the content was plentiful, but if you were a shoestring operation looking for a way to set yourself apart from the competition - well then you had better find a sugar daddy or momma somewhere! As web application developers for Virtual Solutions Group we both had graphic design experience, so we set out to find applications which could give us the capability to use our own creativity and generate our own content. We found two applications out of the mainstream at the time which seemed to fit the bill pretty well. We bought up the programs and set about to learning how to use them and creating our own DVD motion menu content. After about six months of creating animated backgrounds, sequences and motion menu's our friends kept telling us how brilliant they were and asking us to create some for them! Well, one thing led to another and in 2004 DVDMenuBacks was born. Times have changed since we began DVDMenuBacks and now our video is great for the myriad of online social networking sites; cell phone, smart phone and pda animations; do-it-yourself documentaries and a whole lot more! We've kept up with the latest versions of our favorite software packages, added a few more to our list of most commonly used applications and continue to produce these awesome animated backgrounds and publish them for purchase from our website.

DVDMenuBacks is a United States based project staffed by United States citizens. All of our video production is done in the United States, all of our pre-packaged DVD's are created in the United States by a United States company and we deliver via United States mail. We are proud to live and work in the land of freedom and prosperity and we consistently support the use of US products, services and labor in all our endeavors. Digital Press
All of our (previously available) DVD collections were made in the USA by Digital Press. If you're in need of superior quality full service CD/DVD duplication or replication services, we have maintained a long time relationship (12+ years) with Digital Press and highly recommend them (in fact, it's about the only replication and duplication company that we do!). They offer a wide array of additional services to augment their quality duplication and replication services including graphic design and printing, fulfillment, warehousing and so much more. We'd tried many vendors before we found Digital Press and none of them can compare to the customer service and quality we get from them. RAR Archives
Our video is delivered in a compressed multi-part .rar format archive - split into 32MB (or smaller) chunks for easier download and recovery. This bears repeating for those that continue to miss this. We deliver our FFU AVI moving backgrounds in a compressed format called RAR. You will need an application capable of unpacking the RAR archive we deliver our FFU AVI video wrapped in. These archives can be extracted using programs such as WinRAR or WinZip, or similar applications under OSX (i.e. StuffIt), Linux and Unix (rar and unrar). We use WinRAR to generate these archives and highly recommend it to our customers.

DVDMenuBacks History

Version 1
DVDMenuBacks sprang to life in early 2004 when we came onto the DVD menu and video background scene with a business model that was the first to offer animated backgrounds for single purchase rather than in expensive packages. At the time, our competition was dead set on selling their video background content in packages costing hundreds and, in some cases, even thousands of dollars. This put DVD authoring with unique content well out of the reach of the average consumer and we addressed this issue by developing and selling, in combination with other content authors from around the world who sold their content through us, several hundred high quality MPEG-II encoded DVD menu backgrounds on our website. In early 2006 we were approached by an undisclosed dvd content authoring software vendor and made an offer for our own video content we simply could not refuse. We sold all of our video content and closed our doors for the mandatory one year outlined in our contract.

Version 2
In mid-2007, after having spent the mandatory year away from selling animated backgrounds while our parent company, Virtual Solutions Group, ventured into new and exciting areas of business, we decided to return DVDMenuBacks to its former glory. We revamped our old website and completely altered our business model to a free, advertisement supported model. We also changed the format we deliver our video in from MPEG-II encoded to full frame uncompressed (FFU) AVI video to provide our customers with the best possible starting resolution for their video projects. From August 2007 through January 2008 we delivered thousands of full frame uncompressed AVI video background downloads absolutely free under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 license using the torrent and direct HTTP downloads. Unfortunately, the cost of bandwidth ended up being much higher than what we could make on advertising and we had to, regretfully, make a decision to no longer offer our great video content for free download. At this time we began development of our next revision of DVDMenuBacks and reclassified all of our animated backgrounds under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 3.0 license on February 1st, 2008. The new Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 3.0 license supersedes all previous license grants.

Version 3
Our v3 revision of DVDMenuBacks, which premiered in March 2008, takes all of our former business concepts (with the exception of advertising) and combines them into a single cohesive business strategy. We've completely re-engineered our website from the ground-up with both a more intuitive look and feel and easier navigation, as well as the integration of many new features including voting/rating and commenting on our videos. We now offer both Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 3.0 licensing and Commercial Content licensing of our video background animations. We also now offer the ability to get our awesome high quality FFU AVI animated backgrounds in several ways: a) By joining our download membership for a small annual fee you can have access to all of our animated backgrounds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week when you need them - including all our new animations automatically; b) By purchasing one of our many pre-packaged video background collections which includes dozens of high quality full frame uncompressed (FFU) AVI animated backgrounds delivered right to your door at the best possible price per video background; or c) By purchasing our animated backgrounds one at a time for either download or delivery on a custom DVD. No matter how you choose to purchase our animated backgrounds we know you'll be pleased with the quality concepts and artwork for your next video production.

Version 3.1
Our most recent version of our website includes numerous updates to the layout and navigational aspects of DVDMenuBacks to include improved moving background listings, improved previews and improved search capabilities. We removed our old search engine and replaced it with a Google based search engine for faster results and a common format everyone is used to. We also added free MP4 downloads for personal and prototype use only and have once again expanded our business concept into the advertising market to compensate for the free downloads being offered. All in all we've made several new improvements to our site and have listened to our customers feedback and made changes as appropriate. We hope you find our latest rendition of DVDMenuBacks to be even easier to use than before!

Monthly Releases
We intend to publish dozens of all new animations each and every month. We are averaging around twenty new animations each month at the time of this writing so there is almost always a few new dvd motion menu video animations each week! Pre-Packaged Video Background DVD's
At the end of 2008, we suspended all production on all of our Pre-Packaged DVD products. Our single purchase downloads and download memberships have overtaken the sales of DVD's, so we've decided to no longer offer them. You can still get our moving backgrounds delivered to you on DVD, instead of downloading, for a nominal fee per moving background, but we will no longer pre-package DVD's as we have in the past.

Customer Feedback
Our website design now includes both voting/rating and comments capability for each of our videos. You do not have to be a member or purchase any of our videos to make comments or rate them. Using the ratings, comments and the total number of downloads we can quickly gauge which videos are popular and which videos are not. These statistics will give us clear indications of the direction our users, visitors and customers would like us to go with our video production efforts. In addition, from our contact page you can now request we create and add a video to our collection specific to your needs! We take our customers requirements and preferences seriously so they can help shape the future of our organization and our content.

Shipping & Handling
We ship via United States Postal Service (USPS) Monday through Friday. We process and ship all orders placed before 4pm EST M-F on the same day. Orders placed after 4pm or on weekends will be shipped on the next business day. We ship our products worldwide - international orders will incur an additional S&H charge. Delivery usually takes from 2 to 5 business days in the contiguous 48 states, and up to two weeks for international delivery. Our United States shipping is based on the total amount of your order using the rate chart listed below:

Refunds & Exchanges
DVDMenuBacks provides an unconditional 100% money back guarantee on all of our custom DVD products. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, simply return your DVD to us and we will gladly give you a refund or exchange your DVD for a like product. We DO NOT offer refunds on download orders or download memberships.

Downloads
We make our video background content available for download from our website as either a single video background purchase or via download memberships. We provide this service as a convenience to our customers, however, due to the immediacy and nature of delivering content on the internet, we do not offer refunds of download orders or download memberships. Download orders are given three opportunities to download your content and both orders and memberships will have time limited download links and other restrictions designed to prevent fraudulent activities such as sharing our download links or member logins. If you want more assurance that you can return a moving background for refund or exchange if you're not completely satisfied, we recommend purchasing the moving backgrounds on a custom DVD instead of downloading them.
